Adjunct Faculty – Music


Winthrop University, a highly ranked, public, comprehensive university, announces a search for an Adjunct Professor of Music in the Department of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The assignment commences in Fall 2019, and subsequent assignments are determined on a semester by semester basis.

Our specific needs vary from semester to semester. Of immediate need are adjunct faculty qualified to teach:

  • Voice (both classical and musical theatre)
  • Staff Accompanists
  • Music Theory and Aural Skills
  • Music Technology

Adjunct faculty teaching undergraduate courses at Winthrop University are expected to hold a master’s degree or higher in the teaching disciplines. In order to teach graduate courses at Winthrop University, faculty must have an earned doctorate / terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Winthrop University gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline. In cases of exceptional and significant professional experiences, the said experience may be considered in lieu of the terminal or master’s degree if the candidate possesses at least 18 hours of graduate credits in the discipline.
