Description

The Department of Design at Winthrop University, one of four units within the University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, enjoys a long and distinguished history as an outstanding design program. Winthrop is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Undergraduate students learn in a professionally-current curriculum, beginning with a strong foundation in elements and principles of design, and in upper divisions focusing on practical and pragmatic solutions to Interior Design, Illustration, Graphic Design, and Interactive Multimedia projects.

Our specific needs vary from semester to semester and might be at any level of our professionally-oriented programs. Of immediate need is adjunct faculty qualified to teach:

  • Interior Design Studio 2 (Commercial)
  • Use and application of software applications AutoCAD and Revit (latest versions)

About the College of Visual and Performing Arts
Winthrop University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) is the academic home to approximately 600 undergraduate students majoring in dance, design, fine arts, music and theatre, and approximately 50 graduate students in six graduate programs and one post-baccalaureate certificate program. The College currently has 59 full-time faculty and 50 part-time lecturers, practicing professionals from the surrounding metropolitan area. Winthrop’s academic programs are nationally accredited by NASAD, NAST, NASD, NASM and CIDA. In addition, Winthrop’s arts education programs (art, music, theatre, and dance) are accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Qualifications

Adjunct faculty in the Department of Design ideally hold an MA or MFA (or equivalent in a Design-based field). They must minimally hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least five years of professional experience in a design-related profession, the content area which they are interested in contributing to. Winthrop enjoys close proximity to Charlotte, NC (approximately 20 miles from downtown), high quality local schools, and an affordable cost of living.
