Parent Educator at Northside Elementary School of the Arts

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma required, two years of college preferred

Successful experience in working with families and knowledge of child development

Family literacy experience is preferred

Ability to communicate with collaborative agencies and support teams, sensitivity to diverse needs of school/community, and willingness to involve parents as copartners in education and support them as their child’s first teacher

If not trained, applicant must be willing to attend training sessions

Ability to schedule, participate in and assist in writing attendance intervention plans

Ability to plan and conduct parent literacy component

Ability to plan and facilitate parent groups

Ability to plan and conduct the interactive literacy component

Ability to plan and provide home visits

Ability to assist families in locating needed resources in the community

Willingness to participate in weekly team meetings and other meetings as necessary

Ability to complete documentation with participating families

Outstanding references from current and former supervisors

Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
