Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma required

Post high school communication and marketing training preferred

Two or more years of social media experience including planning and managing content in an educational setting preferred

Outstanding knowledge and use of electronic communication tools to include social media, web, email, etc.

Ability to recognize and manage confidential information in an efficient and effective manner

Ability to work effectively with various publics and staff

Ability to operate standard office equipment and pertinent software applications

Knowledgeable of the educational environment preferred

Skilled in planning and multi-tasking

Well organized and task-oriented

Excellent communication skills with proven attention to writing, accuracy, and editing

Outstanding references from current and former supervisors

Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

 

Salary Range:  $15.00 – $21.00 per hour

 

Length of Contract:    20 hours per week

 

Starting Date:    Immediately upon selection

 

College transcripts, three references, and a copy of appropriate credentials should also be submitted during the application process.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS CONTENT SPECIALIST

 

Purpose Statement:

The job of the Communication Content Specialist is done for the purpose/s of producing timely, accurate content for district communications in order to support the district’s two-way communication with stakeholders.

 

This job reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

 

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with marketing and communication department teammates and other district employees as needed.
  • Writes news and feature content for district publications, releases, videos, social media posts and other communications as necessary.
  • Creates digital assets (photos, graphics, charts) to support writing, website, and social media.
  • Assists in editing and publishing district email newsletters.
  • Edits content for others, to ensure accuracy and proper mechanics.
  • Assists in content management on the district website.
  • Supports district social media accounts.
  • Supports media relations efforts.
  • Tracks communications and other measures to assist with department’s continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides support to Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 10% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.

 

Experience

Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
