Would you like to assist in conducting research on full-size buildings by subjecting them to Category 3 hurricanes, hailstorms, or wildfires? Would you like to get real-world experience while earning your degree? If so, we need you!

The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), is searching for talented individuals for part-time internships with our technical team at our Richburg, South Carolina Research Center. Interns will work closely with engineers and scientists to develop custom, state-of-the-art instrumentation and electrical solutions, construct buildings and/or test samples of building systems, and run lab equipment to conduct scientific research which will lead to stronger, safer buildings that are more disaster-resistant.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must:

  • be interested in working with and developing state-of-the-art technology in a one-of-a-kind laboratory;

  • be organized, detail-oriented, and have a willingness to learn new technologies;

  • strive for the highest quality of work, following precise instructions;

  • work well in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment;

  • be excellent problem solvers, both individually and as part of a team;

  • be good communicators, with excellent writing and speaking skills;

  • have basic computer skills including Microsoft Windows® and Office®; and

  • be enrolled in a technical/college/university study program (internship may or may not earn college credit).
