Tire Room Set-up Lead Associate

Job Summary

Responsible for preparation, set-up, start and running manufacturing equipment. Accountabilities also include ensuring that jobs meet quality specifications, manufacturing standards and that safety procedures are followed while working to continuously improve quality and productivity of manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment to produce parts to specification
  • Ensure maximum efficiency of set-up to include set-up time, materials, production rate and material consumption
  • Machine readiness-inspect machinery, equipment and tooling prior to set -up
  • Identify issues, which adversely affect product requirements and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning
  • Identify nonconforming materials/products and work with shift leaders for resolutions
  • Quality
  • Ensure part quality meets established standards
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Complete all shift documentation/paperwork
  • Shift hand-off- go over job status updates with incoming shifts
  • React quickly to equipment downtown or other extraordinary condition, and must notify supervision whenever such conditions occur
  • Maintain safe healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • Notifies maintenance department of machine malfunction
  • Resolve employee relationship issues; evaluate conflicts and determine disciplinary actions
  • Follow all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department
  • Follow established company and department policies, procedures, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines
  • Performs other job duties as assigned
  • Engage and retain high-performance standards and elevate level of responsibility and performance

Skills/Qualifications

  • Must possess basic skills to setup, load and unload material from manual and automated equipment will little supervision
  • Must possess basic computer skills, data entry skills and the ability to operate and load simple computer programs to run the equipment
  • Ability to operate with speed and accuracy, maintain a team player attitude
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Require strong communication, interpersonal, business, technical, analytical, and planning skills
  • Displays leadership competencies, including ability to delegate, engage, and inspire others
  • Able to coach and train line production workers to optimize production
  • Must have the ability to expedite solutions when situations arise
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is expected to have supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

  • HS or GED is required
  • 2 to 4 years of technical related degree preferred
  • Ideally 5 to 7 years direct experience in a passenger car tire manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Experience operating conventional machines and working in a production-oriented and results driven environment is applicable

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands in the work environment my be noisy.
