Outdoor Explorers Club Facilitator

OVERVIEW

The Outdoor Explorers Club Facilitator is a member of a vital team who are responsible for the daily facilitation of the Outdoor Explorers Club program.  Key responsibilities include connecting youth to nature on the ASCG Greenway through program facilitation in the areas of environmental education, outdoor recreation, and natural resources to help promote conservation awareness and develop future stewards of the land. Schedule for Outdoor Explorers Club is Monday-Thursday, 2p-6p; other opportunities to assist with other Programs Department events may arise, including on weekends and holidays.

Outdoor Explorers Club is an afternoon program providing outdoor adventure and exploration available to youth in Kindergarten – 5th grades. It is designed to supplement all learning styles occurring and focuses on meeting the social, emotional, and physical well-being of the children. Children attend two days a week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.

Program Hours: Monday – Thursday 2p-6p

KEY FUNCTIONS

Facilitation of Outdoor Explorers ClubFacilitate child-led programming as part of an education team
Facilitate recreation activities such as hiking, kayaking, campfire building and more for Outdoor Explorers Club
Assist in the supervision and organization of club attendees
Assist with Programs and Greenway special events as requested
Additional ResponsibilitiesEffectively manage time to ensure all assigned tasks and programs are complete and on-time
Willingly accept increased responsibilities within the scope of the Programs Department
All other duties as assigned

Must be flexible and be able to adapt to quickly changing scenarios
Strong writing and verbal communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or/ability required. BA/BS Degree in Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Education or equivalent preferred
Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving history
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION

No supervisory responsibilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Most work is sedentary; it may be necessary to remain on feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time on various surfaces and terrain. Must be able to handle live animals (experience with live animal care a plus).
