FLYERS Summer Camp Teacher

The FLYERS Program is held at Fort Mill’s Elementary schools and is part of the ANNE SPRINGS CLOSE GREENWAY where children in K through 5th grade engage in activities that encourage creativity, social relationships, appropriate behavior, and positive self-image.
This exciting program is packed with fun activities indoors and outdoors for the children to engage with nature and learn about our environment. Homework, crafts, snacks, and outdoor play are all part of the experience. Supplementary programs are also provided that focus on sports, character building, and environmental stewardship.
Candidates must enjoy working with elementary age children and able to follow lesson plans and assist with activities.
Monday – Friday – 20-25 hours per week
Summer Sites are open 7am until 6pm daily so morning or afternoon shifts are available
During the school year sites are open after school from 2pm-6pm Monday-Friday
(During school year hours vary to allow for all day coverage on Teacher Workdays and Winter Break)
Under supervision, engages in activities with children and provides quality care and enrichment that enhances children’s social skills, elevates activity level and extends learning in a fun and safe environment.
Assists with monitoring academic, recreational, and enrichment activities
Actively engages in student activities with a passion for working with children
Uses proactive thinking and best practices toward a healthy and safe environment
Helps maintain clean and organized areas and shared school space
Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships
Provides assistance in distributing snacks, supplies, etc.
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to handle multiple tasksEnjoys working with children in a large group environment
Above average interpersonal skills with strong written/oral communication skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances

High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION
No supervisory responsibilities
Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
