OVERVIEW

Under supervision engages with children in outdoor educational and recreational activities with a focus on leadership and provides quality care and enrichment that enhances children’s social skills, elevates activity level, promotes an appreciation of nature and extends learning in a fun and safe environment.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Assists with the supervision of academic, recreational, and enrichment activities
Actively engages in student activities with a passion for working with children in the outdoors
Uses proactive thinking and best practices toward a healthy and safe environment
Helps maintain clean and organized areas
Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships with staff and parents
Provides assistance in distributing snacks, supplies, etc.
Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to multitask and participate enthusiastically in all program activities
Ability to be a role model to students
Ability to interact with a range of age groups
Above average interpersonal skills with strong written/oral communication skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Negative TB skin test
Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train

No supervisory responsibilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
