Accounting Clerk

OVERVIEW

Under limited supervision responsible for completing clerical work for the accounting department. This role is an integral part of the Accounting team and is responsible for contributing and providing support pertaining to all departmental objectives. Effective independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified time-sensitive workload. Works 28 hours per week.

KEY FUNCTIONS

•    Performs general accounting tasks as organizing, preparing documents, updates records ability to multitask and determine priorities

•    Posts financial transactions; enters debits/credits into accounting system

•    Verifies approvals per guidelines established

•    Reviews account coding and verifies proper support documentation is included

•    Produces a variety of reports, checks for accuracy in reports, figures, postings

•    Records vouchers, cash, checks

•    Reconciles and reports any discrepancies

•    Prepares daily/monthly transactions

•    Research daily / monthly GL transactions

•    Research and adjust open items, cash imbalances and variances

•    Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations

•    Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

•    Solid understanding of basic accounting principles

•    Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with demonstrated data entry accuracy

•    Strong Excel skills and proficiency with all Microsoft Office products

•    Excellent customer service and effective communication skills

•    Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred; minimum of three years of experience accounting

•    Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
