First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill, South Carolina, seeks a person to serve as organist.
Description: Part-time, 8-10 hours weekly, single worship service Sundays at 11:00 a.m. (summer months may move to 10:00 a.m.) and Chancel Choir rehearsals either Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. or Sundays at 9:30 a.m. depending on the seasons.
Duties: Planning and preparing appropriate organ music for the weekly service with extra services during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons; attend and accompany weekly rehearsals of the Chancel Choir; accompany children’s choirs as required when they sing for worship; accompany soloists and/or instrumentalists as required; play for weddings and funerals as requested (for additional compensation). Three-weeks’ vacation annually.
Organ: Three-manual, 33-stop, 40-rank 1960 Möller organ installed in 1961 (console rebuilt, Matters memory system added, tonal refinement by Daniel Angerstein – 1995).
Qualifications: Extensive experience as an accomplished church organist, strong choral music sightreading skills, understanding of the role of an organist in reformed worship, ability to work well with colleagues and supervisors, amicable personality.

The 365-member downtown campus boasts an Akron-design sanctuary (1894) and an education building/gymnasium (1999) that provide outstanding facilities located in the heart of Rock Hill’s vibrant downtown.
Compensation: Negotiable, dependent upon training and experience.
