Driver

Key Function/Purpose of Position:

Provides safe pick-up and transfer for participants via our door-to-door services in agency vehicles to our Adult Day Health Service Centers for regular and special programming. Provides safe transport and transfer for participants to scheduled external appointments and special events as scheduled and directed by the Lead Driver, Program Director, and/or Center Director. Represents the Agency with excellence in person-centered care that begins at the participant’s front door.

Key Responsibilities:

 Demonstrates ability to manage distractions and hazards to maintain safe operation of vehicles;
 Complete Pre and Post trip inspections daily and record observations to meet licensure requirements;
 Complete preventative maintenance on agency vehicles as directed;
 Monitor for abnormal sounds or changes in the performance of vehicle and report immediately to supervisor;
 Provide and maintain cheerful, pleasant demeanor and establish supportive relationships in transporting clients who are elderly and clients with disabilities;
 Perform cleaning duties as assigned, including maintaining the vehicle’s exterior appearance;  Maintain agency records as assigned (must be able to do basic addition and subtraction);  Escort clients for field trips;
 Build collaborative community relationships that drive visibility and program referrals;
 Participates in team meetings as needed to assist in coping with the changing care needs of participants;

Education/ Experience:

 Required: Minimum of High School Diploma and 10 year driving record approved by Agency insurance provider.
 Preferred: Minimum of four (4) years successful work experience in transportation or related work.

 Ability to work effectively as part of team-based, outcome driven program;
 Ability to use good judgment and awareness in monitoring changes in client’s behavior and condition and to respond to urgent needs;
 Ability to document events and issues that present during the providing of transportation services;
 Basic computer knowledge relating to training and use of email;
 Demonstrate safe driving skills and satisfactory driving record;
 Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints from our constituents;
 Ability to interpret instructions in a variety of forms;
