Security Engineer

We are seeking an individual to work under the direction of supervisors, to perform a variety of duties related to new information security system implementation and existing information security system enhancements including: system selection, system implementation system documentation (including as-built, BC/DR plans, standard operating procedures, etc.), training of Infrastructure team/Help Center/other teams as appropriate, development of knowledge base articles and other standard awareness/educational collateral, coordination of system announcement as appropriate, etc.).
  • Provide selection, implementation and upgrade services for systems under the responsibility of the Information Security team
  • Identify and evaluate information security products
  • Implement new solutions
  • Update and otherwise maintain existing security solutions (firewalls, IPS, anti-malware, anti-virus, web filtering, log collection, 2-factor authentication, anomaly detection, network access control, etc.)
  • Tune and adjust existing solutions to meet requirements related to security, compliance or client expectations
  • Assist with troubleshooting and the resolution of problems with security solutions
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of systems managed by the Information Security team (configuration records, disaster recovery state and tasks, regular operations, etc.)
  • Prepare and deliver training to teams impacted by or responsible for new or updated systems
  • Coordinate communication to involved/impacted parties in relation to new or updated systems
  • Coordinate change control scheduling and approval and manage PMO project records related to new or updated systems
  • Maintain familiarity with security frameworks (ISO27001/27002, ITIL, NIST, SOC2, etc.) and provide recommendations to configure company systems to these standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with risk assessment approaches and utilize such approaches in the selection, configuration and testing of security systems
  • Support other teams
  • Make general system configuration change recommendations to meet security compliance or other initiative requirements
  • Define and perform system and server hardening
  • Support users
  • Assist with tier two/three responses to trouble tickets
  • Provide security education to system administrators and owners
  • Support other initiatives of the Information Security team
  • Assist with execution of security assessments
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry recognized risks and possible security vulnerabilities as well as current security solutions
  • Provide guidance regarding secure application and system configuration
  • Provide backup support for other members of the Information Security team
  • Interpret assessment findings and provide configuration recommendations for remediation
  • Provide guidance on ways to improve security
  • Support special projects of the Information Security team as required

Education and Training
  • Associate or bachelors degree preferred.
  • Applicable certification (CISSP, CISA, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience in a role focused on operational support or security system configuration is required.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing and software development is desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals regarding security concerns, problems and questions
  • Solid and broad technical foundation including but not limited to a strong knowledge of ISO27001, NIST and/or other relevant frameworks and risk assessment procedures
  • Awareness of relevant compliance requirements (HIPAA, state privacy laws, etc.)
  • Experience with security systems (firewalls, IPS, anti-virus, encryption, authentication)
  • Familiarity with local and wide area networking, Microsoft systems and mobile technologies
  • Ability to multitask and switch focus among multiple different efforts quickly
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications and adjust to upgrades to existing applications
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills
