Applications Engineer – Software


As an Applications Engineer in Software you play an important role presenting 3D Systems capabilities to prospective customers by preparing product demonstrations, both generic and customer-specific. You will participate in benchmarks, representing 3D Systems against the competition. You will work with the our Resellers and augment their capabilities whenever necessary. Your in-depth industry experience will be leveraged by maintaining an overall competitive analysis as well as providing high-end technical support in critical accounts. A willingness to spend a significant amount of time traveling is necessary.


Develop and deliver product demonstrations to prospective customers.

Work with Resellers to develop their staff

Support Resellers responding to RFQs/RFPs

Attend conferences to promote our software system and its capabilities

Train Resellers on new releases when they are available

Provide Win/Lose Assessments in Sales situations

Develop on-going competitive analysis of product against competition

Provide technical support to customers when level of problem elevates it beyond internal Technical Support group

Participate in new product releases Contribute to product collateral development

This is an offsite role.






Education and Training:

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in Tooling Industry

Experience :

5+ years of advanced CAD/CAM systems in Tooling

3+ year of demonstration of software application desired

Experience working in a highly independent and matrix environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Advanced CAD/CAM knowledge Surface/solids modeling experience

Understanding of CNC Machining

Exposure and understanding of 3D Metal Printing

Ability to travel 50% of the time domestically and internationally

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and technical communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to assess technical risk/challenge as they arise

Able to coordinate across multiple sites, functions and time zones
