This position is responsible for creating and maintaining tire testing for the purpose of comparative tire performance studies.
Essential Duties & Functions
Creates testing programs and provides detailed PCR/LTR comparative tire performance studies and quality analysis reports
Tracks equipment downtime (Breakdown %, Planned Work %, and Total Maintenance Downtime) and documents chronic and catastrophic failures, developing and implementing improved metrics and performance indicators when possible.
Assists testing team in preparing and conducting performance tests, including coordinating and performing objective tests, and processing data and generating reports.
Maintains online database of field testing data and updates management on a regular basis.
Operates various test equipment (e.g., road wheel and compression test systems) in accordance with established procedures.
Performs tests upon tires for the purpose of assessing their reactions to high speed, stress, and other conditions.
Performs tests upon stationary tires to measure their strength and physical characteristics.
Ensures that test data and tire identification is detailed and logged properly on appropriate forms. Enters all test data into the database system.
Reports to management any non-conforming test results that do not meet test criterion.
Identifies and procures weekly DOT (Department of Transportation) audit test tires according to set procedure. Maintains weekly DOT audit files.
Develops and improves preventive maintenance programs as needed including spare parts inventory management.
Ensures maintenance of the lab equipment, ensuring all equipment is fully operational and safe.
Assists with mounting and balancing of test tires.
Responsible for any other additional duties as assigned by Management.

Education and/or Experience
BS degree in a technical field. Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Must have good analytical skills, common sense, and good reasoning skills.
Must be proficient in MS Office programs and technical report writing formats.
Must be able to communicate effectively with diplomacy and tact.
Must be able to stand, sit, move, and use fingers for extended periods of time. May require walking primarily on a level surface, reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist, as well as lifting up to 100 pounds.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Must be able to travel and work weekend. Travel time 5-15%.
