Company Spotlight: Comporium
While the name Comporium might be familiar to Rock Hillians beginning around the early 2000s, the company is an integral part of Rock Hill’s history, having spent over a century as The Rock Hill Telephone Company. Beyond providing internet, cable, and telephone services to York and Lancaster counties, they’ve been a beacon of innovation, finding new ways to positively change their community.
Comporium has grown to serve Fort Mill, Lancaster, Heath Springs, Great Falls, Brevard (NC), and the Midlands of South Carolina. They’re the 11th largest privately owned company in South Carolina, serving over 134,000 customers and employing 1,177 team members.
“The promise to be good stewards and involved corporate citizens in the communities in which we operate is something Comporium takes very seriously. Through economic development efforts, reinvesting a portion of our profits, and providing quality services, both in bulk and individually, we hope to improve the quality of life in each of the communities that we serve. We believe that when the community is healthy and growing, everyone has the opportunity to prosper.” –Comporium.com
In 1992, the company launched CN2, an emmy-winning news channel that produces stories about local people and events as well as live video feeds and commercial production for area businesses.
Comporium has come along way from installing 27 telephones in 1894. In addition to leading the way with internet and cable services, they’ve invested in smart home, connected car technology, and data management.
“At Comporium, we are dedicated to our mission statement, “Making Life Easier” and we are dedicated to truly serving the communities which we are a part of. To fulfill our promise we must continue to adapt to changing times.” –Comporium.com
